Dr Emma Young develops future media experiences at BBC R&D, to inform tech innovation and strategy. With experience in Production and Technical Consultancy; and Doctorate in Digital Innovation; she has a deep understanding of emerging technologies and their media applications. Her research and production interests centre around Immersive Media, including VR, AR, Spatial Audio and Metaverse-related technologies.
Emma speaks at a wide range of events in academia and industry; is a member of the Steering Committee for the Audio Mostly conference; and sits on the Industry Advisory Board at Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications. Passionate about Diversity and Inclusion, Emma led the staff network ‘BBC Women in STEM’ (WiSTEM) as Chair of the Board for 2 years and is highly active in outreach.
